Rebuilding The Docks
These are just a few pics from when we had to rebuild my Grandparents’ Dock. They have both passed now, but this is still the family meeting grounds for holidays and special occasions(especially the 4th!!!). The section of empty frame is where the old “T” originally ended. We used it to build the new “T” extension, then gutted it and rebuilt it as a new central platform.
Lastly we added a smaller, offset section for easy boat access and as a jump-off platform for the kids.
Rebuilding The Docks pt. 2 – Pop’s Dock – aka – The Great Flood of 2016
The Floodpocalypse
The flood that occurred in 2016 was massive to say the least. Deemed “A Hundred-Year” Flood; it destroyed vast amounts of land and property. And even though my dad was considered “one of the lucky ones”; he still had massive amounts of property damage.
The Ramp frame you see pictured here is AFTER Pop rebuilt/re-welded the thing. The original was rolled over like a twizzler. When the frame was finished, me and a few buddies spent the next several “months worth of” weekends rebuilding the ramp. Start to finish, I honestly don’t remember how long the total rebuild time was(months… and months…); but if it hadn’t been for the help of our awesome friends, family, and neighbors… we’d probably still be working on the thing…
